Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on, technically adept Field Engineer with strong experience in API-driven PACS application integrations and troubleshooting complex enterprise integrations. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in customer-facing situations, excels in debugging real-world interoperability issues, and can lead deep-dive technical troubleshooting sessions.
While direct experience with Physical Access Control Systems (PACS) is highly desirable, it is not required, as long as you bring a solid background in system integrations, troubleshooting, API workflows, and database interaction. You will play a key role in ensuring smooth and reliable integration between PACS platf orms and Ambient’s platform for our customers.
The impact you’ll make:
- Lead customer engagements to troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve complex integration issues
- Configure and validate system integrations across APIs, middleware, and direct database connections
- Proactively investigate and document integration challenges, building a deep understanding of third-party system behaviors and common failure points
- Use tools such as Postman, Wireshark, and log analyzers to debug REST/SOAP APIs, webhooks, and database queries
- Work cross-functionally with developers, solution engineers, and support teams to enhance integration workflows and customer documentation
- Build a compatibility interoperability matrix across vendor platforms, versions, and system configurations
- Create technical documentation, integration best practices, and internal knowledge bases to broaden capability across the company and customer base

The amazing skills you’ll bring to Ambient.ai:
- Strong hands-on experience with system integration and enterprise application interoperability
- Proven ability to troubleshoot REST/SOAP APIs, analyze payloads, and debug authentication flows
- Familiarity with SQL databases, stored procedures, and query optimization
- Comfortable working with tools like Postman, Wireshark, browser dev tools, and log analysis platforms.
- Comfortable installing, configuring, and simulating integration environments
- Working knowledge of both Linux and Windows administration, including basic command-line usage for troubleshooting and integration-related tasks
- Effective communicator who can lead technical discussions with customers and internal stakeholders
- Self-starter with a bias toward action and problem-solving
Preferred Experience
- Integration building/troubleshooting experience with any major PACS (Physical Access Control Systems) vendor or ecosystem (Lenel, Genetec, Software House, Avigilon, etc.)
- Background in physical security, building automation, or enterprise application integrations
- Prior work in roles such as Field Application Engineer, Systems Integrator, Solutions Engineer, or Middleware Integrator

We take a market-based approach to pay here at Ambient.ai, and pay may vary depending on multiple factors. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, level, market conditions, and internal parity.
Base salary is just one component of our total rewards package. As a fast-growing start-up, our regular employees are also granted stock options, and an opportunity to succeed when Ambient.ai succeeds. As a young start-up with product market fit, our stock upside is substantial, and a large part of our total rewards strategy.
The pay scale below represents the starting base salary range we expect to pay for this position, and is subject to change*:
Redwood City: $110,000 - $145,000
*From time to time, we may decide to make an offer to a candidate that is either leveled below or above this role based on skills, experience, and interview performance.
